An der Grenze von Blut und Blutgefäßwand befindet sich die Endothelzellschicht, die in ihrer Gesamtheit ein höchst differenziertes und höchst lebendiges Organ darstellt: das Endotheliale Organ. Hier ist ein Ort der funktionellen Anpassung von Blut- und Organprozess, der in der Polarität von Kräfteströmungen steht, die sich auch in den biologischen Funktionen derjenigen Mediatoren abbildet, die die Endothelfunktion regulieren: Vasodilatation-Vasokonstriktion, Antiaggregation-Aggregation, AntikoagulationKoagulation, Diastole-Systole, Ausatmung-Einatmung, Schlafen-Wachen, Nacht-Tag, Aufbau-Abbau. In diesem Zusammenspiel der Polaritäten sind Ungleichgewichte möglich und können als Endotheliale Dysfunktion im Sinne eines Frühstadiums der Arteriosklerose erscheinen, welches sich noch ganz im Funktionellen abspielt. Bei der manifesten Arteriosklerose steht das Endotheliale Organ als Mitte und Vermittler nicht mehr ausreichend zur Verfügung: Entzündungsund Skleroseprozesse können unvermittelt einander gegenüber stehen.
At the boundary of blood and vascular wall lies the endothelial layer which in its totality is highly differentiated and vital—the endothelial organ.This is a site of functional adaptation for blood and organ process, situated in the polarity of energy currents also reflected in the biological functions of the mediators which regulate endothelial function— vasodilation and vasoconstriction, anti-aggregation and aggregation, anticoagulation and coagulation, diastole and systole, exhalation and inhalation, sleep and waking, night and day.anabolism and catabolism. Imbalance is possible in the interplay of these opposites and may present as endothelial dysfunction, an early stage of arteriosclerosis that is still wholly functional. With manifest arteriosclerosis, the endothelial organ is no longer adequately available as middle and mediator. Inflammatory and sclerotic processes may be in direct opposition.
