Up-to-date insights into neuroplasticity

Metaphors such as plasticity have a long tradition in the efforts to understand and describe the way the brain functions. Clay modelling serves to show seven parallels of neuroplasticity which ultimately lead to the insight that it is not that the brain determines how we shall be but that we determine how our brain shall be. There are indications that the localization of memory and plasticity is not limited to the brain itself. The milestones in discovering neuroplasticity are described. They appear to make the image of a static, dying brain relative. The paper shows that the nature of a neurosensory system as presented in the threefold anthroposophical view has not lost in validity, and what is more, that it provides understanding of the ‘true neural process’ which can only be elucidated with the insights gained into neuroplasticity.
