Herausforderungen einer Anthroposophischen Onkologie

Seit Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts hat die Behandlung von Krebskrankheiten durch „Präzisionsmedizin“ einen exponentiellen Aufschwung genommen. Dies führt zu einer mutationsgesteuerten Therapiezersplitterung, die den Nöten vieler Krebspatienten nur teilweise gerecht wird.
Gegenüber diesen vom Physischen ausgehenden Therapieprinzipien der Präzisionsmedizin ist der Ansatzpunkt der anthroposophischen Onkologie die Unterstützung des über den Wärmeorganismus in das Immunsystem hereinwirkenden Ichs. Die immunologische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Tumor findet im „cancer immunoediting“ ihren Ausdruck. So wie sich der Tumor im Zwiegespräch mit dem zunehmend ausgeschalteten Immunsystem entwickelt hat, muss es nun zu einer ebenso aktiven Rückentwicklung (Devolution) durch einen aktiven Sterbeprozess der Tumorzellen (immunogener Zelltod) kommen, der nun anregend auf das Immunsystem wirkt.
Der damit verbundene krisenhafte Ich-Einschlag kann physisch oder geistig-seelisch ausgelöst werden und wird maßgeblich durch eine hochindividualisierte Misteltherapie unterstützt. Diese schöpferische Krise ist unvorhersehbar und bedarf einer besonderen Qualität der Arzt-Patient-Beziehung.
Challenges for an anthroposophic oncology
With the development of precision medicine at the beginning of the 21st century, the treatment of cancer has experienced an extraordinary upsurge. This trends towards fragmentation of treatment, driven by the discovery of druggable mutations and signaling pathways. However, only a minority of patients benefit from this approach.
In contrast to the molecular-genetic guiding principle of precision medicine anthroposophic oncology seeks to support the individuality (ego) that operates within the immune system through the warmth organization. The immunological relationship to a tumour is expressed in the concept of immunoediting – wherein the tumour evolves in this relationship as the immunity increasingly loses ground. It follows that an active developmental reversal (devolution) is called for, by inducing immunogenic cell death that mobilises the anti-tumour immunity.
This can be achieved by a crisis-inducing impact of the individuality, by either biological or psycho-spiritual means, or both: which is essentially facilitated by an individualised mistletoe treatment. The shape and outcome of such a creative crisis can out of its nature not be predicted and may require unusual investment in the patient-doctor relationship.
