Der Fokus dieses Beitrags liegt auf den seelischen Auswirkungen einer (erhofften) Transplantation, die die Autorin in ihrer Arbeit als Kunst- und Psychotherapeutin bei Organempfängern immer wieder beobachten konnte. Dienen wir einem Menschen, wenn wir ihn bis zuletzt in der Hoffnung lassen, er würde transplantiert? Oder berauben wir ihn nicht eher seines Abschieds vom Leben? In welcher Beziehung findet sich der Empfänger eines neuen Organs zum Spender? Macht uns der Wunsch nach „Ganzheit“ blind für die Möglichkeiten der Vollendung, die in jedem – noch so kurzen – Leben stecken? Diesen und anderen Fragen widmen sich die folgenden Betrachtungen.
The mental effects of transplantation for the recipient – a therapist’s observations
The focus of this article is on the mental effects of a (hoped-for) transplantation which the author has repeatedly observed in organ recipients in her work as psychotherapist and art therapist. Do we benefit a person if we let him hope to the very last that transplantation will be possible? Or are we depriving him of the opportunity to say farewell to life? How does the recipient of a new organ relate to the donor? Does the wish to be ‘whole’ blind us to the opportunities for completion that are to be found in every life, how ever short? The paper is devoted to these and other questions.
