The influence of surgery and anaesthesia on the immune system – healing begins before surgery

This article describes the intra- and postoperative immunological changes, which are highly balanced. The intraoperative factors influencing the immunological balance are highlighted and the importance of a rapid restoration of the balance of the organism is emphasised. This is intended to offer guidance with regard to supportive therapy with anthroposophic remedies and forms of therapy, which is explained in more detail using the example of perioperative mistletoe therapy. The article is intended to create an awareness of the importance of prehabilitation: Healing begins before the operation.
